The Beach House at Bait al Bahar is a concept I really like: relaxed, not very posh, easygoing, and the best: right in the sand overlooking the sea!
Usually you have to go to one of the five star hotels in the city if you want to appreciate the fact that Dubai is actually located at the sea. It would be amazing to have more cafes and kiosks at the beach!
Well, now we finally got one. Having refurbished a previous office, the guys at this place have done a great job by putting some loungers, tables and chairs on the terrace overlooking the ocean.
This is a good place to go with kids, as you can combine the trip
with a play in the sand or a swim before / after (there are public
showers just next to the restaurant). Unfortunately the terrace is
fenced off and the waiters won't open the gates. Therefore, you will
either see the kids lifted over the fence by parents, or you have to
walk all around the building if you want the kids playing in the sand
while the adults sit and chat.
It would be a great improvement if the fence was removed.
also for a coffee with friends, shisha and some nice juices this place
is ideal. Make use of the perfect weather these days and enjoy the beach
without getting sandy!
The food is simple and good. We went
for breakfast, since they already open at 8am. Be prepared to wait a
whlie for your coffee though, service is not the speediest. Prices are
Apart from the Beach House (a literal translation of Bait Al Bahar) with its international cousine and the amazing outdoor terrace, you will find under the same roof also an Emirati Restaurant (Bait 1971) which is located on the first floor, as well as a Sushi bar and Shisha Lounge in the second floor called Mazeology Lounge. These other two open later in the day, hence I didn't get to see much of them.
Bait al Bahar is located right next to DOSC - Dubai Offshore Sailing Club - in Jumeirah. That is just off Umm al Sheif Road. See the map below for details.
They are open from 8am until 2am.
